2004 Score Laughlin Desert Challenge (01-17-04)

This one just felt right! The car was back to basics, with components that had proven their durability across the Baja 1000. John was primed & ran a near flawless run... except for rolling the car & a ghost flat.  In spite of these minor setbacks, we were only a little over a minute and a half off the lead car for the day. On day two, John had the dubious distinction of lining up with NASCAR's Robby Gordon for the start (video, 5Mb). Robby had the inside to the first corner & took the early lead, but John hounded him until Robby rolled it on his lid & kept it there for a lap. John ran it hard for the rest race & brought home a second in class and sixth overall. I'd call that feeling right!
