2004 Baja 500 (06-05-04)

This year's 500 ran counterclockwise over sections of past 500's. We ended up at our usual spot in Erendira, about 50 miles southwest of Santo Tomas. We sat in wait with spares for John Marking, John Cooley, & Robbie Groff. Fortunately, none of them needed pit support & blew by without loosing time. John, with Chris Harrold co-driving & Turbo-Tom riding shotgun for 500 miles, pulled off a 6th in class, 39th overall out of 288 entries. All this in spite of time lost welding a patch to fix a damaged front suspension!  John Cooley came in next at respectable was 7th in class. As is, John is still very much in contention for the 2004 overall-in-class, to be decided at the next Primm & the Baja 1000!
